I don’t have time for much television, so when I watch, I like to make sure it is time well spent. A new series on Showtime fits the bill for high quality viewing. I have only seen the first episode, but it is well-cast, well written, suspenseful and set in one of my old stomping grounds, Montauk, where I have spend many fun summer days.
In a nutshell, this show is at once deeply observed and intriguingly elusive as it explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship. Noah, the protagonist, is a New York City schoolteacher and novelist who is happily married, but resents his dependence on his wealthy father-in-law. Alison is a young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage back together in the wake of the loss of their child. The provocative drama unfolds when Alison and Noah meet.
This is one I highly recommend! It’s juicy!
